Meet

Dr. Nick Palmer

Orthodontist and TMJ Specialist

Dr. Palmer did his undergraduate work at Michigan State University. After graduation he attended Wayne State University and received a Masters degree in biochemistry. Upon graduation from Wayne he attended Case Western Reserve University for both his dental degree and his second Masters degree, in orthodontics. At the same time he attended dental school he worked as a senior lab tech at Cleveland Clinic. The research associated with his Masters degree at Case, earned one of the highest honors given by the American Association of Orthodontists.

Upon completion of his time at Case Western he and his family moved back to Michigan and opened an office in Troy. The Troy office with time proved to be too small and so we moved into our present office in 2007.

In 1989 Dr. Palmer began teaching diagnosis and treatment planning to the Oral Maxillo-Facial residents at DMC, downtown Detroit. In 1994 Dr. Palmer was asked to join the faculty at University of Michigan Dental School, Department of Orthodontic and Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Palmer was the Associate Clinical Professor and director of the Graduate Pediatric Orthodontic Clinic and the Orthodontic segment of the graduate Pediatric curriculum.

In addition to teaching Orthodontics Dr. Palmer was asked to teach courses in tempro-mandibular joint disorders (TMJ). Because of the demand to treat TMJ, it has become a significant part of our patient treatments. Teaching expanded to where Dr. Palmer was asked to lecture at Case Western, as well; as guest lecturer at Ivan Franco University dental School, Lviv Ukraine. In 2014 Dr. Palmer retired from teaching and now concentrates on what he enjoys most, treating patients and families in his office.

Dr. Palmer is a life member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the World federation of Orthodontists. Dr. Palmer represented Ukraine for the signing of the Charter of the World Federation.
